I hate to be nit-picky in these times of nuptial bliss, but isn’t it kind of silly to be using the republic’s “minguo” calendar when the rest of the world is using the real calendar? This article and the said ceremonies would’ve been more appropriate if it had taken place on September, 9th, 2009. Secondly, I could have sworn I have read somewhere in the history books that the said republic was defeated by some communist party in a civil war on the Chinese mainland. Thirdly, why do we keep interchanging the terms Taiwan and the elusive Republic of China as one entity? Gosh darn it! Perhaps I’m just ill informed. It’s not that I don’t have love in my heart, it’s just that before I commit to such a ridiculously indefensible logic for and indeterminate length of time, I’d like to get my facts straight. Regardless, all the best to the newly weds, where ever they may be. For we know all too well the loooooooooooong path of glory that is sure to follow.

Memorial day is a most appropriate holiday because it serves three purposes: firstly, it commemorates the sacrifices that our military forces have made, and continue to make, in defending our blessed land and way of life; secondly, it serves as a much needed holiday relief for the holidayless months of February through May; thirdly, it obliges all people on American soil to get out of the house, barbecue, eat, drink, travel, shop, and be merry. With the preconditions of our patriotic duties established, let’s add a tinge of Taiwanese-American flavor to our formula for summer joy: thrift. Realtaiwan.com have recently affiliated with an up-and-coming travel aggregation website called cheapoair.com. As a contributor to realtaiwan.com, I have personally saved $50 booking my upcoming trip to Los Angeles on cheapoair, hence I’m spreading the good word on my positive experience. When making your summer travel plans, add our friends at to your research repertoire and compare for yourself. David is an independent author with ample experience in the field of publishing. If you have aspirations to change the world through your thoughts, you’ll be wise to read and learn from David’s experience.

As a newly minted part-time blogger, the idea of publishing thoughts is fascinating to me because the publication process encapsulates abstract ideas into a modularized, tangible form of a book. It’s incredible that notions from the mind, the most powerful force known to man, can be contained in such a harmless and unassuming apparatus. We needn’t look far for evidence where written words have affected history and life as we know it; from the works of Greek philosophers, to Thomas Payne’s Common Sense and The Rights of Man, to Carl Marx’s Communist Manifesto, to the thousand year old Bible and Kuran, to the condominium association by-laws, et cetera. For those seeking to leave a lasting legacy in the form of printed words, read David’s article for the right way to go about it. For the others with commitment issues who do not yet feel ready to cast your thoughts in stone, I urge you to first practice in our forums.
